Barton Primary School
Barton Primary School is a new PPP (Public/Private Partnerships) school that opened on the first day of the 2017 school year. Our school caters for students in Prep to year 6. Our school vision is to prepare each of our students for success in their ever changing future by providing them with the necessary skills, knowledge and general capabilities. We achieve this through upholding our four school values; optimism, success, respect and determination.
Our school has been designed to create contemporary learning environments that facilitate learning and a learner centred approach. The school curriculum is based on the Victorian Curriculum incorporating the Australian Curriculum.
Barton Primary School is an exciting social infrastructure hub for the growing community. Our Community Hub space, managed by the YMCA after school hours provides Outside School Hours Care services and other community programs to local families and residents.

Barton Primary School Virtual Tour
Meet the Principal
I would like to introduce myself to you as the Principal of Barton Primary School. I really enjoy the role of Principal and am excited about this opportunity to develop our school as the centre of our new community.
I was the Principal of Somerville Rise Primary School for the past nine years. Prior to Somerville Rise I was the Principal of Crib Point Primary School and prior to that Assistant Principal of Devon Meadows Primary School.
I have worked as a primary school teacher since the late seventies in schools all over South Eastern Melbourne but predominantly on the Mornington Peninsula. I have experience as a classroom teacher as well as a specialist Phys Ed teacher.
In my spare time I really enjoy a hit of golf, a paddle at the beach or some gardening at home. I live in Mornington with my wife Loretta and our three children. My daughter is a doctor at The Royal Children’s Hospital; my other daughter is a Secondary School Phys Ed teacher & my son has just completed a Business Management Degree.
I am passionate about providing the best possible learning opportunities for every child. At Barton Primary School we are establishing a culture which will foster student growth. Exploring our website will give you an insight into how we are doing this.
